We feel that the King KX-155 is the best NAVCOM ever made, but after 35-45 years in harsh aviation conditions. They all need a complete overhaul ….which also includes a POWDER COATED FACEPLATE …NEW LENSES and LED SOLID STATE DISPLAY!
It takes at least 10 hours of highly technical work to completely overhaul a 40-year-old radio properly and install our new LED Display.
FIRST AND FOREMOST FROM CUSTOMER REPORTS 7 out of 10 NAVCOMs ARE NOT COOLED PROPERLY….THE LEADS TO ALL KINDS OF ISSUES AS ELECTRONICS DO NOT LIKE HEAT. MOST LEGACY RADIOS MUST BE EXTERNALLY COOLED BY AN EXTERNAL AVIONICS PORT FAN AND 5/8 INCH AIR HOSE FROM THE FAN UP TO THE RACK BACKPLATE AIR INPUT PORT….THIS PUSHES FRESH AIR OVER THE POWER SUPPLY, TRANSMITTER, and….the Entire Box!
VERY IMPORTANT …… Check your Aircraft by Loosely Taping a piece of paper over the empty 155 rack, Turn on the Electrical Circuits and the paper should be Flapping nicely in the Breeze !! ….. IF NOT….YOU NEED TO FIX IT ASAP by Installing an Avionics Port Fan and 5/8 inch Cooling Hose. 2 LEGACY TRANSMITTERS REQUIRE A 3 PORT FAN….and 2 SEPERATE HOSES ONE TO EACH BACKPLATE ON EACH RADIO….THEN PLUG THE UNUSED 3rd PORT ON THE FAN. ANY A&P CAN DO THE JOB. PORT FANS and 5/8 inch TUBING ARE AVAILABLE AT AIRCRAFT SPRUCE….Please Note: Garmin 430 and 530 also Require this External Cooling…only the latest avionics had the room for internal fans for cooling the Electronics.
There are three receivers and one transmitter in a single radio.

The transmitter and all three receivers must be CALIBRATED by the book with expensive/professional testing equipment, for maximum performance.
